Safety Policy
Important: Soulyn does not conduct criminal background checks on any user. A verified badge means we have taken steps to reduce fake accounts — it does not guarantee a user's identity, character, criminal history, or intentions. Please use your own judgment in all interactions.
What Soulyn Does
- Profile review: We review new profiles for obvious violations before they appear in the match deck
- Verification options: Users can verify email, phone number, and selfie — these reduce fake accounts but do not constitute a background check
- Reporting tools: In-app reporting is available on every profile and in every conversation
- Blocking tools: You can block any user at any time; blocked users cannot contact you or view your profile
- Content moderation: We act on every report we receive and remove content and accounts that violate our policies
- Zero tolerance: We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, sexual misconduct, and predatory behavior
What Soulyn Cannot Do
- We cannot guarantee the identity of any user
- We cannot guarantee that all harmful users will be detected or removed
- We cannot prevent all harmful behavior between users
- We cannot protect you from harm that occurs outside the app
- We cannot respond to every situation in real time
- We are not a law enforcement agency and cannot conduct criminal investigations
Your safety ultimately depends on your own judgment and precautions. Soulyn is a tool for connection — use it wisely.
No Background Check Disclosure
Soulyn does not run criminal background checks, sex offender registry checks, identity document verification, or any other background screening on its users at any point — during registration, verification, or ongoing use.
Verification features are limited to:
- Email verification: confirms you have access to the email address provided
- Phone verification: confirms you have access to the phone number provided
- Selfie verification: confirms your photos appear to match a real person — not an identity document check
None of these features verify your legal name, age document, criminal history, or real-world identity in a legally binding sense.
Online Safety Tips
- Take your time getting to know someone before sharing personal information
- Do not share your home address, workplace, daily routine, or financial information with someone you have just met
- Be cautious of anyone who pushes you to move off-platform quickly
- Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it probably is
- Report anyone who makes you uncomfortable, even if you cannot identify exactly why
- Be aware that photos may not represent how someone currently looks
In-Person Safety Tips
- Meet in a public, well-populated place for any first meeting
- Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to return
- Arrange your own transportation — do not rely on your new connection for a ride to or from a first meeting
- Keep your phone charged and accessible
- Trust your gut — leave immediately if you feel unsafe. You do not owe anyone an explanation
- Do not feel pressured to meet anyone before you are ready

Platform Limitations
Soulyn is a platform that facilitates connections between users. We are not responsible for the conduct of users outside of the Soulyn app. We cannot monitor all interactions in real time. We cannot prevent every bad actor from creating an account. Our moderation is reactive as well as proactive — if you do not report something, we may not know about it.
By using Soulyn, you acknowledge these limitations and agree to take responsibility for your own safety decisions.
