1. Who We Are

Soulyn LLC ("Soulyn," "we," "us") operates the Soulyn mobile application and related services. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

2. Data You Provide to Us

Account Information

• Email address
• Phone number (if verified)
• Password (stored encrypted; we never see it in plain text)
• Date of birth (used for age verification and astrology features)

Profile Information

• Display name
• Profile photos
• Bio and profile prompts
• Life stage, interests, and friendship intentions
• Voice intro recordings
• Spiritual archetype and energy preferences

Astrology & Birth Data

• Full birth date
• Birth time (optional, improves chart accuracy)
• Birth location / city

Birth data is used exclusively to generate your natal chart, horoscope content, compatibility analysis, and AI soul readings. It is not shared with third parties for advertising.

Messages & Content

• Messages sent to other users
• Soul Notes
• Journal entries (private to you)
• Reports submitted about other users

Location

• Approximate location for matching (city or region level)
• Birth location for astrological calculations

We do not continuously track your precise real-time location.

3. Data Collected Automatically

• Device information: device type, OS version, app version, device identifiers
• Usage data: screens visited, features used, session duration, interactions
• Analytics: aggregated and anonymized usage patterns (via Firebase Analytics)
• Crash reports: error logs to help us fix bugs
• Push notification tokens: to deliver notifications you have enabled

4. Firebase Services We Use

Soulyn is built on Google Firebase. The following Firebase services process your data:

• Firebase Authentication: manages your login, email verification, and phone verification
• Cloud Firestore: stores your profile, messages, matches, and app data
• Firebase Storage: stores your photos and voice intro recordings
• Cloud Functions: server-side processing including subscription validation, moderation, and matching
• Firebase Analytics: anonymized usage analytics

Google Firebase's data processing practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Data may be stored on Google servers in the United States.

5. Apple Subscriptions

Soulyn offers paid subscriptions (Sister+ and Circle Gold) processed entirely through Apple's in-app purchase system. Soulyn does not collect, store, or process your payment card information. Apple handles all billing and payment processing.

We receive confirmation of active subscription status from Apple's StoreKit system, which we use to unlock premium features in the app. We store your subscription tier (e.g., "sister_plus" or "circle_gold") in your Firestore profile.

6. How We Use Your Data

• To create and manage your account
• To generate your match deck based on compatibility, interests, and location
• To deliver astrology content, natal charts, horoscopes, and AI soul readings
• To enable messaging, Soul Notes, and community features
• To send push notifications you have opted into
• To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations
• To review reports and enforce community standards
• To improve the app through aggregated analytics
• To process and validate subscription status
• To respond to your support requests

We do not use your data for third-party advertising. We do not build advertising profiles.

7. Data Sharing

What Other Users See

Your profile (name, photos, bio, interests, archetype, age) is visible to other Soulyn users in the matching system and in Circles. Your messages are visible to the recipient. Your exact birth time and birth location are not publicly visible — only your sun sign and archetype are shown on your profile.

Service Providers

We share data with trusted service providers who help us operate the Service (Google Firebase, Apple). These providers are contractually required to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your data if required by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person or to prevent illegal activity.

What We Never Do

• We do not sell your personal data
• We do not share your data with advertisers
• We do not share your messages with third parties except as required by law

8. Messaging & Content Moderation

Messages between users are stored in Firestore and are not end-to-end encrypted. Soulyn staff and automated systems may review messages when investigating reports of policy violations, harassment, or illegal activity. By using messaging features, you acknowledge that your messages may be reviewed for safety and moderation purposes.

Journal entries are private and are not shared with other users or staff under normal circumstances. They may be subject to legal disclosure if required by law.

9. Matching & Location

Soulyn uses your approximate location (city or region level) to show you potential matches nearby. We do not display your precise location to other users. You can adjust your location preferences or disable location-based matching in your settings.

10. Children's Privacy

Soulyn is strictly for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user under 18 has created an account, we will promptly delete their account and all associated data. If you believe a minor is using Soulyn, please report it to support@joinsoulyn.com.

11. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account:

• Your profile and personal data are removed from active systems
• Messages may remain in other users' conversation history for a limited period
• Backup and log data may be retained for up to 90 days
• We may retain certain data as required by law

12. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from the Soulyn app (Profile → Delete Account). Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your profile, messages, and photos will be removed from our active systems.

13. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access: request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: correct inaccurate data in your profile
• Deletion: delete your account and associated data
• Portability: receive your data in a portable format
• Objection: object to certain processing of your data
• Notification opt-out: disable push notifications at any time in app settings or iOS Settings

14. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage, access controls, and secure transmission. However, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information and are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from your own actions (e.g., sharing your password).

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
